Endorsement from Professor David Stevenson, Dean of Arts, Social Sciences and Management.
As a Professor of Cultural Policy at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh (QMU), I recognise the transformative power of the arts in education. Throughout our history we have dedicated ourselves to fostering a diverse and vibrant cultural sector that reflects the richness of Scotland’s population. At QMU, we recognise the vital role of the performing arts in enhancing collective well-being. Engaging in an arts education will develop professional skills and nurture critical thinking and emotional intelligence, preparing young people for a range of possible futures.
Catalyst Entertainment seeks to foster a deeper appreciation of dramatic texts through engaging workshops and masterclasses, enhancing the holistic development of those participating. The chance for aspiring young artists to work directly with industry professionals in such a dynamic setting is a remarkable opportunity. Furthermore, the commitment to culminating these workshops in an open-air theatre production, working with international performing arts professionals, promises to be an inspiring experience for both local and international students. This unique opportunity will prepare participants for further studies at prestigious institutions like QMU, which has trained actors and theatre professionals for over fifty years.
I am also immensely proud that the founder of Catalyst Entertainment is Paul Ewing, one of our most successful alumni, who, in 2022, we granted an honorary doctorate to in recognition of his contribution to the arts. His exceptional professional achievements and strong ties to QMU position him as an exemplary figure to lead this initiative. With his extensive background in the arts and education, Paul is well-equipped to create meaningful connections within the industry and to guide Catalyst Entertainment towards fulfilling its mission of nurturing talent and promoting the arts.
I am excited about Catalyst Entertainment’s potential for students and the broader arts community in Thailand. This initiative will undoubtedly lead to a vibrant cultural evolution, and I eagerly anticipate the inspiring projects that will emerge from it.
I wish Paul and the team the most tremendous success with the launch and ongoing growth of Catalyst Entertainment!
